Pat Service
Pat Service, one of Canada's leading landscape artists, employs a magical use of colour in the production of buoyant, vibrant, atmospheric paintings. An empathic relationship with nature is reflected in these works. It is the essence of an environment that Pat is intent on portraying, not the specifics. Combining thin washes of pale colour punctuated with saturated colour and an active graphic element; she achieves maximum expression with minimal means.
Born 1941, Port Alberni, British Columbia
Raised on the West Coast. After graduating from university, lived and travelled in Eastern Canada, Scotland and Venezuela. Since 1972, living in Vancouver, painting full time.
