Pam was born in Chile and raised in Quebec; she earned her CEGEP (Arts) diploma in 1972 at Concordia University, Montreal, where she had her first formal fine art instruction. During  travel in Europe in 1974, she made the decision to study photography and returned to Canada to enter the Photograpy Program at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. This training led her to work in restoring, retouching and hand–colouring photographs.

She moved between London, Edmonton and Vancouver working as a graphic artist and photo artist, and finally settled in Edmonton in 1985 when she became the single parent of her two young boys. In 1986, she returned to school and studied at University of Alberta, earning a Bachelor of Fine Art degree, “with distinction”, in 1992.  Upon graduation she worked as a freelance graphic designer and then as a coordinator and instructor of adult and youth training programs.  In 2000 she left  the city, her job and her children to live and paint in her current lakeside home.
